I am so excited to be your music teacher this year and cultivate a community of musicians. Here's a little bit about me, so you can get to know me better...
I grew up in a small fishing town called Rockport Massachusetts and spent my childhood singing, playing outside, and spending lots of time with my brother and sister (she is a music teacher too!).
I began my love of music and interest in teaching when I attended Martin County High School in Stuart, Florida. I sang in a nationally ranked chorus called OPUS and traveled with them throughout high school. I studied music and music education at the University of Vermont. I have been singing and playing instruments for as long as I can remember and have a passion for teaching elementary aged students. Can you imagine a better job than making music with children all day?!
I am an active member of Florida Music Educators Association and hold certifications in Conversational Solfege and First Steps in Music.
I recently moved with my husband to Sarasota in 2012. Previously, I taught music in two K-6 schools in Rhode Island. I have a dog named Penny Lane who loves to chase squirrels and swim in the pool.On the weekends, I like to see concerts, go boating, and shop at the farmers market.I love teaching music and working with children but I also love to... sail, ski, read, travel, cook, and do yoga!
